I test drove a Rivian R1S last weekend and I really liked it. It was well built and very premium. It was also VERY quick, especially for such a large vehicle. My Tesla's have not been super high performance models but I'm fairly used to the acceleration of a good EV. The R1S was in another category; probably more akin to Tesla Plaid models. And it felt good at speed; steady, planted, no drama (besides the speed rush). I don't know what model it was but I'm guessing it was the triple motor, high end one. 😁

It is large though. I mean really large. It makes my MX feel like a compact car. It also has a heavy feel to it. I don't know if that's the actual weight or just how Rivian has it "tuned". It does have different "modes" (sport, comfort, offroad, snow, etc.) that I didn't really get to experiment with much, so that might be part of it. And the view out of the windows seemed restricted in some way. I'm used to having the largest windshield in the known universe, so my viewpoint on this might not be valid.

It's interesting because I currently have ZERO interest in purchasing another Tesla, or even recommending one to anyone else. I'm not sure I would spend the money to get the Rivian, but it would be one of the top contenders right now. And there are several other makers coming on the scene that look very interesting; Telo Trucks looks really cool, and of course the Blank Slate. 💗 The future looks pretty bright!
