Tesla owners may soon have a new way to pay inside the Tesla app. Code found in Tesla app version 4.62.0 (and later) shows Tesla is preparing to add X Money as a payment method.
X Money is the digital payment platform built into X. It lets users send money to each other and pay using their X wallet balance or a connected bank account.
What You Could Pay For
Once it’s live, you’d be able to set up X Money as a payment method in the Tesla app and use it for purchases in the Tesla Shop, Supercharging sessions, and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscriptions.
X Money already has a role at Tesla. Customers can use it to pay the $5,000 upfront deposit to reserve the new Roadster, which Tesla unveiled at its high-flying reveal event earlier this month. The remainder of the reservation amount requires a wire transfer.
There’s no word yet on when X Money support will arrive in the Tesla app, but the code is already there. It may launch alongside X Money payments in the Robotaxi app, giving owners and riders the same option across both.

How FSD Referrals Would Work
According to the new code, owners who refer others to an FSD subscription would earn a free month, or possibly several months, of FSD. You’d be able to apply the reward to any vehicle on your Tesla account.
Several new phrases in the app show how the process would work. One prompt reads “If someone subscribes with your link, pick which vehicle gets the reward,” while another asks you to “Confirm Vehicle for Reward.” There’s also a new line that says “Select the vehicle you’d like to apply the Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial to,” which suggests the referral rewards will be classified as free FSD trials.
Tesla has also added front and back images of an FSD referral “coin,” which will likely appear in the app when you successfully refer someone.

A New Way to Encourage FSD Adoption
This isn’t Tesla’s first attempt at getting more drivers to try FSD. Last year, it launched FSD gift cards that covered a month of FSD (plus tax). Referral rewards take a different approach by giving existing subscribers a reason to spread the word, with free FSD time as the payoff.
