Tesla owners may soon have a new way to pay inside the Tesla app. Code found in Tesla app version 4.62.0 (and later) shows Tesla is preparing to add X Money as a payment method.

X Money is the digital payment platform built into X. It lets users send money to each other and pay using their X wallet balance or a connected bank account.

What You Could Pay For

Once it’s live, you’d be able to set up X Money as a payment method in the Tesla app and use it for purchases in the Tesla Shop, Supercharging sessions, and Full Self-Driving (Supervised) subscriptions.

This isn’t the first time X Money has shown up in Tesla’s code. Last month, a Robotaxi app update hinted at X Money payments for rides, suggesting Tesla is rolling it out across its apps.

The same Tesla app update also added official support for iPad, iPhone Duo, and Android tablets and foldables, along with code for an FSD referral program that gives owners free FSD time when someone subscribes using their link.

Musk’s Companies Keep Getting Closer

X Money already has a role at Tesla. Customers can use it to pay the $5,000 upfront deposit to reserve the new Roadster, which Tesla unveiled at its high-flying reveal event earlier this month. The remainder of the reservation amount requires a wire transfer.

Moving forward, the ties between Musk’s companies could grow even tighter. Tesla and SpaceX, which owns both X and X Money, recently formed special committees to discuss a potential merger.

There’s no word yet on when X Money support will arrive in the Tesla app, but the code is already there. It may launch alongside X Money payments in the Robotaxi app, giving owners and riders the same option across both.
