This app update adds support for Tesla’s new Standard models. It adjusts the visualizations to account for the changes in these models, such as the lack of a rear display, new front bumper, new wheels, and the new roof on the Model Y Standard.

It also reveals the codename for these models, the Model Y Standard was already known as E41 Bayberry, but we now know that the Model 3 Standard has a codename of D50 Poppyseed.

Tesla now offers a range of vehicles that either support or lack certain features. It’s not just about newer models supporting features, and legacy models not supporting them. With the introduction of the Standard models, Tesla now offers vehicles with and without glass roofs, as well as models with and without powered mirrors or seats with and without button adjustments.

With this update, Tesla has added variables for numerous features, which they use to build the dynamic vehicle model. For example, they have a variable optional_has_real_display to tell whether a rear screen should be rendered, optional_turn_indicator_control_type which lets the renderer know whether a stalk should be included and more.

They include variables for various features, such as unreal visualizations, whether a vehicle is in China, and whether it has a rear display, a front bumper camera and others.

Tesla has included some variables in this update that potentially hint at them using different front bumper cameras. This update includes phrases such as FRONTFASCIACAMERATYPEIMX963 and FRONTFASCIACAMERATYPENONE.

The IMX963 appears to signify the type of camera the vehicle is using, potentially indicating that Tesla plans to use others in the future or is leaving the possibility open. Tesla uses different parts from various manufacturers with functionality that’s the same or similar.

However, Tesla could also introduce new functionality with updated hardware. We’ll keep a close on this to see if Tesla introduces any additional front camera types.

There are now more signs that Tesla is moving to Unreal Engine visualizations for FSD and Autopilot. The new Model S and Model X are suspected to already be running visualizations using the new engine. While the new engine is expected to give Tesla more capabilities, Tesla appears to be using the same 3D models for now. The new Model S and Model X allow you to move the visualizations around in the Control menu, a feature not available in 2025 and older S and X models.

This app update mentions isUsingUnrealApViz, hinting that some vehicles are running Unreal Engine. Given the nature of the flag, this could also mean that not all vehicles will support Unreal Engine. It’s suspected to only be available on AMD Ryzen-based vehicles.

Tesla’s Dashcam app feature is fantastic, allowing you to view Dashcam footage without having to remove the USB drive from your vehicle. However, the streaming quality is noticeably worse than what’s available in the vehicle.

This app update includes several phrases that hint at Tesla supporting dynamic bitrates in a future update, potentially allowing users to view video in higher quality when the vehicle has a strong connection or is connected to WiFi.

Tesla has updated the app’s maintenance section under Service > Request Service > Maintenance. The app now pulls data from the vehicle and shows the same recommended maintenance as shown inside the vehicle under Controls > Service > Maintenance.

While the app previously displayed regular vehicle maintenance and their estimated costs, now the app can tell which items are overdue and which ones have been performed recently. The Maintenance section in the vehicle allows owners to record regular vehicle maintenance such as replacements for wiper blades, cabin air filter, low-voltage battery, as well as other common tasks.

New code in this app update points to a potential new way to share vehicles in the future. Tesla added a lot of new strings regarding vehicle sharing and bootstrapping, including key values such as 'bootstrap_vehicle_access_add_to_mobile_app': 'Adding Vehicle to Mobile App',

'bootstrap_vehicle_access_connecting_vehicle': 'Connecting to vehicle...', 'bootstrap_vehicle_access_successful': 'Vehicle added successfully'.

Tesla already lets you share vehicles by adding a secondary “driver” account or by sharing the vehicle with another Tesla account. It’s not clear what improvements these changes can provide or how they’ll differ from what’s currently available.

Currently, secondary Driver accounts have some limitations in the Tesla app, as the app restricts features such as Charge Stats and Roadside Assistance to the primary account holder only.

Tesla has made more changes for the upcoming Virtual Queue charging feature that will allow owners to wait in a virtual queue instead of a physical line when a Supercharger is full.

Tesla continues to integrate a lot of Robotaxi code into the main Tesla app. However, it’s not clear whether Tesla plans to add Robotaxi functionality into the main app itself, or if the two apps are just sharing a lot of the same code.

This update includes more Android-specific details, suggesting that Tesla may be close to releasing an Android version of the Robotaxi app.

This app update adds support for upcoming iPhone models, including the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.

These updates appear to have to do with support for the smaller dynamic island on these new iPhones.

Tesla has updated the Schedules section of the app. The Schedule section has been renamed “Set Schedules,” to make its functionality clearer.

Inside Set Schedules, Tesla now also indicates when a schedule will run next; for example, it’ll say “Next Schedule: Tuesday at 10:00 PM.”

Under Charging, the app will now also state “Start Charging” or “Stop Charging,” depending on whether you chose a start time for charging or an end time.

We’re starting to see the integration of Tesla’s Virtual Queue into the Tesla app. The feature will enable owners to enter a virtual queue upon arrival at congested Superchargers. Instead of waiting in a physical line with their vehicle, owners will be able to join the queue in the app, which will then save their place in line, allowing them to relax until its their turn.

These changes show us that once drivers join a waitlist, they’ll be presented with an estimated wait time. When it’s their turn, they’ll have a certain amount of time to begin charging before their turn is passed to the next person in line.

A new phrase in the app shows us that Tesla will display Missed turn, removed from waitlist, in the app if a driver misses their charging turn.

This update introduces several changes to Tesla Insurance. There are new phrases that allow you to exclude a driver, exclude a vehicle, and provide a reason for exclusion when signing up for Tesla Insurance.

Tesla will soon be introducing a new feature called Supercharger Mileage. This feature seems similar to the recently introduced charging MultiPass, that allows owners to charge at third-party chargers. This new feature will be available in China and will have cards with unique numbers on them that need to be activated online.
