Musk to Give Every Kid in the U.S. a Share of SpaceX

Elon Musk wants every kid in America to own a piece of SpaceX. “Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America,” Musk wrote on X on Monday, adding, “This will be the first of many.”

Musk didn’t share any details on how the shares would be distributed. One idea floated by investors is to send them through Trump Accounts, the new government-backed investment accounts for children.

A Response to Anthropic’s Public Benefit Fund

The pledge came right after Anthropic announced its new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund. The AI company is starting the fund with 5% of its shares and says it plans to add up to 2% more for every 50% increase in its value above a set baseline. Altogether, Anthropic says roughly 20% of its shares are committed to the public good.

Musk replied directly, “I recommend giving the shares directly to the public,” then said that’s what he’ll be doing.

The math is big but manageable for Musk. There are about 72 million children under 18 in the U.S., so one share each works out to roughly $10.6 billion at today’s stock price. Musk holds about 6.4 billion SpaceX shares, including unvested awards and options, so the gift would use just over 1% of his stake.

What a SpaceX Share Is Worth

SpaceX shares are trading at about $147 at the time of writing, giving it a market cap of roughly $2 trillion. That’s after its blockbuster IPO earlier this summer, which made it more valuable than Tesla.

Musk has said SpaceX could be worth more than $100 trillion within 10 years as it scales Starship, commercial trips to space, and orbital data centers. During SpaceX’s first earnings call, leadership pointed to $1 trillion in annual revenue within reach by 2030, with its first orbital data centers launching in 2027. SpaceX has also acquired AI startup Cursor for $60 billion and, more recently, purchased wireless spectrum to make Starlink a U.S. phone carrier.

SpaceX Q3 Earnings Call Today

SpaceX reports its Q3 2026 results after the market closes today, with an audio webcast at 4:30 p.m. ET. It’s only the company’s second earnings call.

Analysts expect $13 billion in revenue, up from $7.8 billion in Q2. They also expect adjusted earnings of $0.13 per share, which would be SpaceX’s first profitable quarter after a $0.09 loss per share in Q2.

Musk may share more details about the share giveaway on the call, including how and when kids would actually receive their SpaceX stock.

Ferrari CEO Praises Tesla, Gives Roadster a Perfect 10/10

Tesla’s new Roadster has picked up praise from an unlikely fan. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna gave Tesla’s Roadster presentation 10 out of 10 for technology and 10 out of 10 for presentation, as reported by Reuters.

Speaking remotely from India at an automotive conference hosted by Italian magazine Quattroruote in Milan, Vigna said Tesla’s redesign showed there’s still room for bold ideas in a mature industry.

A Perfect Score From Ferrari

“It certainly shows that also in the automotive world there’s still a lot to be done. We have to keep dreaming,” Vigna said. “As a European, thank you for showing us how that, even in an old world, you can still innovate and dare.”

It’s high praise from the head of one of the world’s best-known supercar brands. At last week’s Roadster event, the car drove upside down on an inverted ramp, did a kickflip over Tesla’s lineup, and hit 0-60 mph in 0.81 seconds using cold-gas thrusters developed in collaboration with SpaceX.

Wall Street was less certain. Tesla shares initially rose after the event, but analysts noted that deliveries are still a few years away. The Roadster was first announced back in 2017, and production starts in 2028, after years of delays and a complete redesign.

Ferrari’s Own Push to Innovate

Ferrari is dealing with skeptics of its own. Its shares fell in May when it revealed the Ferrari Luce, its first fully electric vehicle. The Luce was designed with former Apple design chief Jony Ive and his design studio, LoveFrom.

Vigna said that outside help was key. “If we had worked on our own, we wouldn’t have done what we did,” he said, explaining that the people observing Ferrari from the outside pushed it to rethink a lot of questions.

Supercar DNA

The new Roadster also leans much harder into supercar territory than the 2017 concept. Instead of the curvy, S3XY-inspired look, it has a low, wedge-shaped silhouette and manual scissor doors, closer to what you’d expect from Ferrari or Lamborghini. You can see just how much it changed in our comparison between the old and new Roadster design.

Under the skin, it brings 1 MW of power, a suction fan system for downforce that lets it drive upside down, active aero, and more, all of which we covered in our full Roadster specs breakdown. There’s plenty more hidden in the design too, which we’ve rounded up in our guide to the Roadster details you may not know.

With production still two years out, it’ll be a while before Tesla’s Roadster goes up against Ferrari on the track. For now, though, it has already won over one of its biggest potential rivals.
