Tesla released their completely redesigned app this week, which includes 3D car renderings and animations, the ability to send commands to the car immediately and more.
For those of you in the software world, you know that when a company releases a redesigned product like this, many new features are thought of along the way, but not all of them make it in the first product release. It’s usually due to time constraints or the features are just planned for later revisions, maybe due to dependencies on APIs or other requirements.
It looks like one of those features may be the ability to turn on Bioweapon Defense Mode directly from the app. Elon simply replied “Sure,” on Twitter when asked whether Tesla could add this useful feature.

The Tesla app already shows some additional climate information that the previous Tesla app didn’t. For example it’ll show you the exterior temperature in addition to the previously shown interior temperature and the target temp.
Tesla released version 4.0 of their app on August 25th on iOS and August 26th on Android. The app was updated to version 4.01 a couple days later. View our deep dive into the new Tesla app to see a full list of new features.
It will also show you whether Dog Mode, Camp Mode or Keep On options are turned on in the vehicle. We expect Tesla to see additional new features added to the app in the coming weeks and months.
