As we head into the final stretch of the year, Tesla's calendar is filling up with major events and upcoming software features. From heavy-duty transport to the next generation of performance, here is what to expect this quarter.
Semi Rollout Event
Tesla will host an exclusive Semi event on September 24 at its Sparks, Nevada facility. The invite-only gathering includes factory tours and ride-alongs, highlighting a manufacturing line designed to eventually produce 50,000 trucks annually. Tesla also plans European regional demonstrations and deliveries for 2027.
Next-Gen Roadster
The next-generation Roadster is set to be unveiled on October 1 at 8:30 p.m. Eastern in Waco, Texas. Invitations and an official countdown are already live. Elon Musk has teased an “unforgettable” demonstration, expected to feature the long-rumored SpaceX thruster package with banned F1 aero tech. It’s not clear how much the Roadster has changed since its initial unveiling, so this will be an especially interesting event. With Gigafactory Texas production slated for 2027 or 2028, there’s still a lot to learn about the upcoming Roadster, including updated pricing and specs, which have likely changed since its unveiling nine years ago.
Q3 Earnings Call
Though an exact date is not locked in, Tesla’s Q3 earnings call is expected in late October. Beyond the standard financial metrics, this call will likely provide crucial updates on Cybercab and Semi production, autonomy progress, and future projects.
Grok Text Messaging Support
While Grok currently manages navigation, climate, and phone calls in Assistant mode, text messaging appears to be next in line. An updated section in the owner’s manual now references hands-free texting, including prompts like “Text Mom saying on my way,” although the capability has not yet rolled out to the fleet. Given that it is already documented in official literature, the feature could easily be enabled via a forthcoming over-the-air update, though Tesla has not shared a specific release timeline.
Grok and FSD Integration
Tesla is also integrating Grok directly with FSD. Elon Musk stated that voice commands for the self-driving system could arrive this fall. The goal is to let drivers speak commands, like asking the vehicle to take the next left or park in a specific spot, rather than using screen inputs or turn signals. Tesla’s Ashok Elluswamy recently confirmed that the feature is in development, and Musk previously said it was arriving this fall.
