Tesla started the roll out of FSD Beta 10.4 on Saturday night. Compared to previous FSD releases, this update is going out much slower. It's a sharp contrast to previous FSD updates, where most users received the update at the same time. After the issues Tesla found in FSD Beta 10.3, Tesla has chosen to gradually roll out FSD updates. Tesla is gradually updating existing beta testers that are on beta 10.3 to this latest version.
Beta 10.4 was initially set to go out to drivers who had achieved a 98 or higher Safety Score. That is still the plan, but Elon now says that Tesla will continue sending the beta to existing testers only and will confirm there are no major issues before expanding the beta any further.
Elon explained on Twitter that if 10.4 continues to look good over the next few days that Tesla may start sending out the beta to new drivers with a 98 Safety Score.
We are rolling 10.4 out slowly, as there are many subtle hardware differences in the owner fleet. If it continues to look good over the next few days, we may start rolling out to 98 safety scores.
