If you want the new Tesla Roadster on your phone’s lock screen, Tesla has you covered. Tesla China recently shared eight official Roadster wallpapers sized for mobile phones, each with the Roadster wordmark at the bottom (via @TeslaNewswire).
Official Tesla Roadster Wallpapers Are Here
Several of the wallpapers highlight the Roadster’s almost-sci-fi tricks. One captures the car’s kickflip from Tesla’s Roadster reveal event, where it leaped over a Semi and other Tesla vehicles while doing a barrel roll in mid-air, with its cold-gas thrusters puffing out plumes. Another shows the rear thrusters firing and creating a cloud of smoke as the Roadster hovers in the air.
Others focus on design. There’s a top-down shot of the Roadster on a cracked desert lakebed next to a figure in a spacesuit, showing off its tinted Gold Glazed glass. A starry night scene features its manual scissor doors open, while a dramatic studio shot shows the car sideways against a wall, invoking the fact that the Roadster can stick to surfaces perpendicular or even parallel to the ground thanks to its fan-based suction system that creates a whopping 2 Gs of downforce. Close-ups of the rear show the full-width light bar, active aero wing, and rear thruster nozzles.
A Very Different Roadster From 2017
The wallpapers also show how much the Roadster has changed. The 2017 concept was a curvy red sports car that looked like a lower, sleeker Model 3. The new one has a sharp, wedge-shaped supercar silhouette, scissor doors, and active aero, drawing comparisons to Ferrari and Lamborghini. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna even gave Tesla’s Roadster reveal a perfect 10 out of 10 for technology and presentation.
It packs serious hardware, too. The Roadster makes 1 MW of power and hit 0-60 mph in 0.81 seconds at the event, with Tesla working to make the production version sprint even faster. We covered all of its other features in our full Roadster specs breakdown and our guide to the Roadster details you may not know.
With production not starting until 2028, a wallpaper is as close as most of us will get to a Roadster for a while.
