Tesla is ramping up efforts to get its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software into the hands of European drivers. In a major promotional push across active EU markets, local owners are receiving free multi-month FSD trials.
One of our readers in the Netherlands recently received an extended two-month free trial, sharing the notification email they received with us. Similar trial notifications have also been reported by owners in Denmark, confirming that this push spans multiple European countries.
Because this Dutch reader previously also received a one-month trial after Tesla started handing them out in April, this new offer brings their total free FSD access up to three full months.
Trial Notifications and Onboarding
The official email sent to European owners outlines the activation window for the trial and setup instructions. Here’s a translation of what it says:
Your 2-month trial of FSD (Supervised) starts today! Your trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) for your Model 3 with a VIN ending in ********** is now active. Your trial expires on October 2, 2026. With your supervision, Full Self-Driving (Supervised) takes over the most tedious aspects of driving—such as responding to traffic situations, changing lanes, and safely navigating intersections—allowing you to arrive at your destination feeling refreshed rather than exhausted.
Enable FSD (Supervised) in your car before your first drive:
Tap ‘Controls’ > ‘Self-Driving’ > ‘Start FSD (Supervised)’

To activate FSD (Supervised), enter a destination, tap ‘Start Self-Driving’, and your Tesla will take you to your destination.

European FSD Adoption and Gathering Road Data
Offering extended trials across Europe serves a dual purpose. Getting drivers accustomed to autonomous navigation builds local interest and converts them into subscribers while feeding real-world driving data back into neural networks to improve them and train models for European road layouts.
The rollout follows rapid regulatory progress. After the Netherlands became the first EU country to approve FSD (Supervised) back in April, four other nations — Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, and Belgium — adopted the Dutch RDW type approval for local roads.
Initial safety numbers look promising. Recent safety data shared by Tesla showed that FSD in Europe is 5.2x safer than human drivers across 65 million kilometers logged in the region. Adding more vehicles to the European FSD fleet will not only give Tesla more data to train models on but also a larger sample size to draw safety stats from.
Increasing trial access also helps drive subscriber growth. In its Q2 earnings report, Tesla leadership confirmed global FSD active subscriptions hit 1.48 million, with European adoption adding momentum.
Tesla continues pushing for broader FSD access in Europe. While several nations support expansion, France recently rejected FSD approval over safety concerns alongside objections from Sweden. With the European Commission set to vote on bloc-wide approval later this fall, gathering real-world trial data helps build a case for broad European adoption.
