Will EVs' electricity usage burden the grid? A look at their impact

I wonder though if they took into consideration the electricity needed at 'gas' stations to run their lights, pumps, cameras, etc. I think if you deducted all of that it would be even less 'E' needed on the grid for charging. Besides, HOPEFULLY by 2050 we will have EVs with batteries (or other storage) that is much more efficient, motors that use less, etc...
All I know is that last summer, here in California, we didn't have ANY rolling blackouts, while at the same time we added about half a million new EVs to the roads.
