Not sure, but it looks like Tesla had it tied to the date and not necessarily the beta release. They two were about a week apart.
I think Tesla put a stop to this and although it may work initially, I think I heard that it gets removed later if FSD/EAP are not bought in the region the vehicle is in.
I am glad I locked it in at $12 when I ordered in June of 2022. I have been looking following the progress of FSD which led me to Tesla in 2019. So when my model Y arrives in December, it will be a dream long in the making, come true.
Your article forgets the two weeks or so in March of 2019 when Elon Musk announced on Twitter that he was dropping the $4,000 price for FSD to $2,000, before tweeting that was a mistake and yanking it back up to $4,000.
