Offline software banks model 3 - Stuck on 2026.8.6

I have a Model 3 2024 DM LR that’s stuck on 2026.8.6, here over a month after 2026.14 was released. A few days ago, I started wondering why I hadn’t received the update, so I went into servicemode to see if it reported any errors, but there aren’t any immediate DTCs. However, it shows software bank A as Offline for both infotainment and AP, hmm

Based on what I’ve read in previous posts online, it uses one bank to download the update while the old software is still active in the other.

Don’t think I’ve seen them this way before when I’ve checked in service mode, but of course it could be something new, and they might both only be online when an update is in progress. Since I don’t check service mode that often, I’m not sure :)

I’ve been in touch with someone else who has the same model and year as my car, and whose car is also stuck on 2026.8.6, it also shows as offline in Bank A.

Does anyone know if it’s normal for one software bank to be shown as offline ?

Even if you don't know anything about it, but If you own a Tesla, as most people on this forum probably do :) it doesn't necessarily have to be a Model 3, I'd appreciate it if you could check the service mode and let me know if it shows on bank as offline, I'd like to know if there's a problem with the two examples I have right now, or if this is how it's supposed to be when the car isn't actively running an update :)

I tried contacting Tesla, but all I got was a copy-and-paste response saying that the car was already running the latest available update for my vehicle configuration.

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

A few weeks back I was in the same boat when everyone was seemingly getting software update 2026.2.9.10 with FSD 14.3.2, and I, with my 2024 Model 3 DM LR, was stuck waiting. I thought something might be wrong with my car because wave after wave went out and I didn't seem to be included in any of them when similar cars to mine were receiving the update.

I did the same checks as you and even went as far as to reinstall my update just to make sure it wasn't my car and even contacted Tesla but got a similar generic response. I ended up receiving the update a few days after I did all that.

When going into service mode I did notice the same thing you did. One bank is always offline, while the other has the update on it. After the latest update was installed, I went into the service mode again and noticed that the banks had "switched," with the opposite bank that was offline now instead online and vice versa.

If I had to guess, Tesla just hasn't "selected" your VIN yet to be in the pool of updates. From what I've heard online (since I'm not on the feature branch and not on the Spring update), the latest 2026.14.X updates have been really slow to roll out and pretty buggy. It is possible that Tesla is working on a patch update, and they are waiting to add you to that latest patch rather than updating you to a buggy, unstable version.

As a side note, if you don't mind receiving slightly buggy updates, make sure to go to your software settings and select "advanced" updates.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've always had it set to “Advanced,” and I almost always get the updates early, I was one of the first to get 2026.8, and the same went for 2025.14 last year.
It's just a bummer when it's one of those “major” updates and you get “left behind” :)

2026.8.6 is actually a pretty good release where most things work well, but when there’s a newer version, you naturally want that one :D

Yeah, sometimes you just get unlucky and have to wait longer than usual for updates. A small tip that I got from one of the techs during a service center visit is that unless an error message pops up on the normal customer-facing infotainment without needing to go into service mode, the car is likely fine. If you don't get the update in the next few weeks, then I'd definitely start to worry that something might be wrong; otherwise, I'd just wait "impatiently," lol.

Update people quit periodically so new guy has a learning curve, then there’s the bug fix mentality - why send out the current update if a bug fix is coming. So, it gets redacted until the fix is ready. Got to be beta tested b4 it gets sent out, yada yada.

Just wait yr turn, no secret tips outside of being an employee, relative of musks, huge social media influencer with a roadster.

I'm just waiting impatiently :D it's a little harder to be patient when it's a “major” update that includes new features that look interesting
I know I've gotten a little spoiled after so long with Tesla's usual fast update cycle :)

Today marks the third-longest wait I've had for an update since my first one in March 2022

The two longest waits were 48 days for 2026.2.3

And 49 days for 2022.12.3.16

Those soft reboots, service mode uninstalls, parking near wifi don’t do much of anything. Service appointment brute force installs are by appointment and take weeks…..u might get it by then.

Yeah, sometimes it truly is like that. Look at me, I'm still waiting on the latest 14.6.6 spring update with FSD 14.3.3, which is supposed to bring not only a ton of new features but also a better FSD version.

U ain’t missing anything-sketch pad stickers, some ambient lighting effects, immersive sound tweaks, hey grok, etc. Oh the FOMO must be killing U.
What I find interesting is the updated Energy app, the new visuals, and Immersive Sound update, plus the updates and changes they don’t mention, which almost always come with an update :)

With 2026.8.x, autosteer/acc became significantly better at handling stop-and-go traffic; this wasn’t mentioned anywhere, just as an example :)

No FOMO here, just a little impatient ;)

I was confused by the comment until I realized that you were replying to someone I have blocked, lol. It's never about FOMO, its just neat to get some new stuff.

Yeah, I can see how that would be confusing if you can't see the original post :)

I just checked the stats for the cars registered on TeslaFi, and 60 of the 114 cars still running 2026.8.6 are in Finland and Denmark, which seems a bit strange
I'm from Denmark :)

The only other country with more than 5 is the US, with 17, but there are probably more cars on TeslaFI there, than there are in Denmark and Finland combined I’d guess

As a 2026 Model 3 owner in Finland, I am also stuck at 2026.8.6 unfortunately.

Software update preference is set to advanced and I tried soft rebooting, opening service mode, connecting the car to WiFi. Nothing seem to trigger the update, and it starts to get frustrating at this point to be honest.

PS- I used to receive the updates fairly quickly up until the latest sprint update.

Keep in mind that TeslaFi and most other trackers can only track cars that actively sign up to have their cars tracked. This means that there are a TON of cars that aren't shown on the trackers.

I only know this because at one point I did subscribe to TeslaFi but then unsubscribed due to the API access fees needed to keep my car tracked.

I know there aren't that many cars left on TeslaFi, only about 12,5K after the price went up, but I still find it a bit strange that there are so many on that version left in Denmark and Finland compared to the total number for ROW

Are there any other software trackers where you can see the breakdown by country? :)

I’ve always just used TeslaFi because it was the first site I found back in 2022 and their stats are easy to read/breakdown

I still haven’t received the update. One more day, and it will officially be summer.

It starts to feel like something is wrong. I might create a service ticket if I don’t receive the update early next week as well.

I can see they’ve started rolling back 2026.14.6 to 2026.2 I haven’t seen that before in the little over four years I’ve been following their updates, it looks like it’s affecting all models except the CT.

I wonder what the bug is in 2026.8.x and 14.x since they’re doing this, hmm

If 2026.8.x were bug-free, they’d probably roll back to that version and not 2026.2, but of course there could be other limitations that led them to choose to roll back to 2026.2

Or maybe it's just a bug in TeslaFI that's causing 2026.20 to show up as 2026.2 on their site :)
It's definitely a bug on TeslaFi, none of the other trackers show any vehicles being downgraded with 2026.2

If I don't receive the update to 14 or 20 by the beginning of next week, I'll try to open a support ticket and ask them to take another closer look at it
