I'm not expecting much difference from the current FSD build. Still hoping for a 14.2.2 soon :) The occasional indecisive lane changes are quite annoying.
Ha! Autofill wanted to put 'awesome' when I started typing annoying.. no.

Wait, so is the .25 a typo in the article, or is it an actual ultra minor update to FSD?

That's the correct version from what I've seen here and on YouTube. Both Ananto and Sawyer Merritt have vids out with that number.
I don't have it yet, but I feel like the version I DO have did better tonight on a trip down to Tempe and back. Maybe the situation was there to experience the twitchy-ness during lane changes but it didn't happen once. Also no lane change signal with no movement for uncomfortable amounts of time. Did better parking, with spacing when it could get it. Weird. Maybe I was lucky :) . Fantastic show - Matt Friend, both he and his opener were worth 200 miles driving round trip.

Yeah, I just saw a few videos this morning. It's odd to me that they would release an update, but it does seem to be an improvement over the previous version from what I've seen so far. I wonder why they didn't label it as a 14.2.2 instead of adding another decimal point. Maybe they just tweaked some “parameters” so they didn't deem it enough of a change to warrant a full new release? Who knows.

I’ve got the update now on my car. I told Grok to take me to two different businesses (one at a time) and requested parking in specific parts of the lots. It did exactly what I asked. Thing is- it wasn’t different than where the car normally parks. I think I need to test it at a Costco or some other large parking lot, by saying ‘Take me to Costco and park in the lot closer to PetsMart’ or something like that. Then it will be obvious.
Sadly, when I told it to take me home using a traffic light at Marina St and Sheldon (vs using a stop sign to make a left onto a 4 lane busy street) and then to turn onto Mt Vernon St from Sheldon it routed really weird. And did none of that. The response certainly sounded like it understood, so maybe that’s a future thing?
Some of the routing options it gave me were new, and still not my preference :) . That was unexpected.
Also- one thing that’s annoyed at least ONE poster on TMC, there are some shortcut nav points under the spot where you type in your destination. you can swipe through them. So like a quick dial on a phone :) .
Also Also- On the 8.5 miles I drove today and even more recently on the previous version I did not experience the weird jitter or lane change indecisiveness (where it just rolls along with signal on but not moving for no apparent reason).

I just finished installing the update right now. It's too late to go out for a drive, but I'll give some feedback in the morning after my commute. Do you know if the Grok navigation can chain destinations? Like if I say “go to destination A, then destination B, and then destination C” does it add them as stops along the way, or does it just overwrite your previous destination?

Yes! It’s *pretty* good at understanding. The YT channel Electrified with Dillon Loomis had a few minutes of him giving Grok all kinds of directions on the go. Might be worth a watch while you’re waiting, pretty informative channel too.
I tried telling Grok to take a different street to get home. It understood, but the nav displayed a ton of options of places to stop so I closed that and sure enough it re-routed. Except that it ADDED a stop on my preferred street, not exactly what I was trying to do but once I got on the street I wanted I deleted the sop so the car didn’t pull over.
Also- it totally said it was gonna park close to my workplace but didn’t park where I was wanting.

After my morning commute, a few quick notes on v14.2.1.25.

Grok navigation: Surprisingly strong for normal multi-stop routing (“take me here, then there, then home”). It can get confused if you get overly specific (e.g., “take this route instead of the normal route”), but for a first implementation it’s excellent at the basics.

FSD driving behavior: Lane hesitation still happens, but it felt less severe than before. However, brake-stabbing seems to be back. On my 20+ mile drive, I had at least one unprotected-left situation where the car was already committed in the intersection, the light changed toward red, and it hesitated/brake-stabbed instead of completing the turn to clear the intersection.

Lane planning / highway entry regression: I have a consistent test spot where the car needs to cross three lanes after a protected left to make a nearby highway entrance. v14.1.x handled this cleanly by getting over promptly. v14.2.x repeatedly chooses the nearest lane first, then tries to change lanes one-by-one, and it often only makes it to the second lane before the ramp—resulting in missed entrances.

Positives: Speed profiles feel more consistent and better matched to traffic flow, and it also seems more willing to “take its opening” to complete necessary turns.

Lane selection issues: It also appears to be making poorer lane decisions again—at least twice on my route it was either in the wrong lane for an upcoming turn, or ended up in a turn-only lane when it needed to continue straight.

Parking: Parking feels like a major step backward. It double-parked between two spaces at work, and even on a second attempt (between two cars, which should be easier as guides) it parked crooked and biased to one side.

Overall: Some meaningful improvements (flow/speed/turn assertiveness), but also noticeable regressions (brake-stabbing, lane planning, and parking). The pattern so far with 14.2 feels like Tesla corrected what people disliked about 14.1, but also removed some of what made 14.1 feel “right.” Hoping for a stronger post-holiday iteration.

I just noticed Standard was doing 35 in a 25 and that never happened before, 5 over at most. Not digging that.
I noticed that too but it seemed to do it more when the speed limit changed and the traffic around the car didn’t slow down. The rest of the time it did seem to still have the hard cap of 5 over, at least on standard.
