Potential for HW3 cars

Still seems like a retrofit-response latency might be crucial if FSD engaged accident-opens up potential class action lawsuits and it’s still fruition at this point.
But, as a hw3 owner, I see this as the only viable option at this point, factoring the implementation costs and it’s a no-brainer.

Wow, that is massive news! I'm guessing this is what they meant by a v14-lite on HW3, likely a huge piece of the puzzle that will allow that to happen. I wonder if this will also mean that even once HW5 is released that we will continue seeing updates to HW4, and the follow-up is how long will this stretch HW3's life? Surely, if this is meant to keep HW3 alive longer it means that they probably expect this to be at least in some form, unsupervised. Otherwise, they would still need to upgrade HW3 owners to make them whole on the unsupervised promise.
I know nothing about the patent process and timelines. Given the patent was just published a few days ago, I wonder if this aligns with the 14-lite rumors, or if it means nothing for 2026. I never had faith that a HW3 retrofit would happen. Too large and too expensive now with the increase in fleet size.
I been saying that for years(hw3), these lite versions will lack power, speed, details. HW5 will do what it is designed for.
