I just read a quick Reuter’s article quoting the Stellantis’ CEO. He mentioned profitability dropping from 17 to 10% which I haven’t confirmed. That got me thinking- Tesla isn’t just building cars, grid storage and solar. They’re also building out the supercharger network. How profitable would the biz be if they didn’t build out the SC network? Doesn’t that SC network differentiate Tesla from other car manufacturers? Never mind the other Industries I already mentioned. Seems to me that if one wants to compare Tesla to an auto manufacturer one should segregate the auto part of Tesla out from the rest including the SC network. Maybe that’s what’s being done when these comparisons are made, I’m not sure. Then there’s the necessity of having a SC network to grow car sales. What’s the ‘right’ way to compare Tesla earnings & margins to GM and others?
