This is great news, even though I thought they had already been working on this, it is nice to know now that they are actually moving forward more deliberately into this area. FSD has been a great driver in recent versions, but one that felt like when you zone out and go to your work route rather than going to where you actually meant to go. It's general driving skills are already pretty great (minus the bugs that we get from time to time), and this development is well and truly what will likely make it feel like it actually understands what it is doing. Hopefully this will also address edge cases a lot better, and make it to where we can finally have unsupervised FSD, at least under certain conditions and circumstances.
