Just 15, well it's a start: you need tractors, construction trucks (back hoe), shopping carts, people walking pets, air planes, flat bed trucks, 2 people moving/carrying a couch, a person lying down-accident.

How about recognizing other Teslas on the road or parked (cyber truck has a unique shape) you could include the appropriate letters (S,3,X Y,CT, CB) on the hood or roof.

What about colors-I see shades of grey, white and orange cones, red stop signs.....what about green trees, blue skies, green hwy signs, etc.

FOR ALL TESLAS not just unreal engine for S/X or HW4 vehicles or while FSD is engaged.

Jeep wranglers and ford broncos have similar shape but on current Tesla display screen look like generic suv.

Can we get a rendering for wranglers also.

Do we know if this will be active on all Teslas new and old or just AMD or HW4 only or just those who subscribed to FSD not autopilot?

It's uncertain at this point. I can't see a reason as to why it would not be able to be on HW3 or vehicles that aren't subscribed to FSD. Especially since they are just very basic assets that don't seem difficult to render. The article does mention that it's possible that a requirement may be to require FSD v14, which would probably then limit it to HW4. However, it also mentions how Tesla may be merging FSD and Autopilot, where Autopilot basically becomes a limited version of FSD. This would mean that it would be possible to have it on HW3 cars as well. But again, this is all unknown for the time being, and I don't even think there is a time frame for when these new assets may be introduced in an update. All we can really do is wait and see for the moment until Tesla releases an update, or confirms it via some other form.

Oh hw3 is not a priority anymore, we are an afterthought at best. We will get some crumbs but not any of the good stuff.
To be fair, they did say that they are actively trying to get a v14 lite to HW3 owners by Q2 2026. I know that may not satisfy a lot of people, but it seems like at least a short term solution until they solve unsupervised to get people upgraded.

It's always interesting seeing how frequently people trade up. That's not my thing. I don't do it with my $1000 phone or my $55K car. I'm getting used to being left out of Tesla's focus. I sound like a broken record, but unless Tesla reaches unsupervised status on HW6 or 7 or 8, I see no practical need to chase features anymore (unless it does level out several years from now).

I'm the same way. I financed the car instead of leasing because I plan on keeping it for at least 6 or 7 years (maybe more). This is understanding that at some point my car will be super outdated, and likely be next to worthless at that point. That said, I still wish that Tesla would make the FSD and other software parts of the vehicle upgradable with newer hardware. If they are going to be making vehicles that are so upgradable through software, it would only make sense (in my opinion) to make the hardware for that software also upgradable. Unless of course, as you said, it reaches a point where it levels out.

I've never been a leaser. Had I really thought through the hardware implications, I might have gone that direction with a Tesla. Naively, I was thinking only of software. Surely, new hardware wouldn't be required every two years. Ha.

I believe unsupervised FSD will only work in hw5 and above. Hw4 are the current vehicles so it makes sense they get the latest updates. HW3 maxed out

HW3 is maxed out, that’s a fact and all the patches/work arounds/lite versions just are not capable for eyes off the road driving.

A few Years from now, it won’t even make financial sense to own a Tesla. All cars will have UFSD and cyber cabs will be readily available thru the app.

-charging automatic
-cleaning and any maintenance will be automated
-no need to worry about parking or insurance, down payments, updates

Not even sure a drivers license will be required.

The entire driving/ownership/licensing will conform to a new way of transportation control. Enjoy these time people, for soon u will be sharing your memories of what it was like to own and drive your

This would be practical, but doing this would eat into Teslas margins as their goal is to sell new cars, not keep you in your old car. As much as I want Tesla to swap out HW3 for HW4 I still highly doubt they would do this on so many fronts just due to the fact that they know people are likely to buy a new car with HW4 before trying to wait out the HW3 update. Also, if we just get past FSD in the car which less than 20% of Tesla owners use, the car is still a good car to drive. I think people want to drive their cars. I only use FSD on road trips or long drives or traffic.

Honestly, I have no interest in unsupervised. Even if FSD were zero defects, it wouldn't fix the defects in other drivers on the road. I get it on geofenced Waymos, but I'm not going eyes-off on a 300 mile roadtrip, kicking back, and playing games on my phone.

That said, I'd still like some modest improvements to FSD on HW3 and give me general features. I think it's BS to think viz improvements on the display can't be handled by the HW3 chip as well as other "comfort features."

It’s a lot of complex computations to get unsupervised FSD-they were aware hw3 could not handle it, so that path is closed.

Just cause yr car is a hw3 does not make it useless. 2025 software wise hw3 & hw4 are for the most part identical in terms of features.

I’d redirect your focus to hw5 where there will be huge differences(speed, colors, details, UI, new features, banish, smoothness, etc)

Then you have real reasons to complain

I'll believe HW5, 6, 7...when I see (if I see it). Until AI is sentient, I don't think so to the point I can take a nap while driving. ICE vehicles continue to also get "hands off technology," but a human being WILL F things up. It's not a matter of trusting your Tesla. You also have to surrender full trust to every other person on the roads. Never.

I see freeway drag racing daily. Zig-zagging across 4 lanes. There will ALWAYS be a use case that AI and top-tier hardware will fail on.

I don't think there is such a thing as “sentient” for in vehicle AI. Think about what it takes to just get ChatGPT functional, and all the datacenters required for that. There is no way you are getting that in a car, at least not within our lifetime. Will it get really, really good, and basically indistinguishable from a human driver? For sure. But again, I don't think that will happen for the next few years. I could be entirely wrong since AI seems to be improving at a rate that everyone is shocked by, but who knows really.

That said, I think we should already be at a level of unsupervised. Just look at Mercedes system and how they allow you to look away from the road. Sure, it's only under certain conditions, but if they can do it, I'm certain Tesla can definitely do it (at least on highways). I personally would trust it enough to at least not fully pay attention on highway drives. For inner city, yeah, I think we are still a ways away. But I wouldn't say we are far enough to require HW6 or HW7. I think HW5 will, with certain updates, be able to be fully unsupervised to the point that you can at least be able to not even sit in the driver's seat.
