I think those who are familiar with FSD and how Tesla operates (to a minimal extent), already knew that whatever these Robotaxi Model Ys are running, is in some form going to be the next FSD update. The question is not only what features will make it to the consumer version, but also, when. The main concern I have had for a while now, especially after seeing these Robotaxi Model Ys, and as of more recently the Model S/X refresh, as well as the Cybertruck, is that they all now have front bumper cameras. The exclusion here is the Model 3, why? In late 2023, early 2024, there were leaked images of the refreshed Model 3 showcasing a front bumper camera, why did they choose to omit it. And is it going to be a future requirement for having unsupervised FSD in the future? How much would this upgrade cost if it is required?
As a side note, I also wonder how much more unsupervised FSD will cost over regular supervised FSD. Because you can bet that Tesla is not going to just remove supervised FSD and replace it with unsupervised FSD, when they can make money on 2 different versions. It also brings into question if there will possibly be a higher third tier of some sort that allows you to add your Tesla to the Robotaxi network. Maybe there will even be differences in features and capabilities, and maybe this is why we have not received an FSD update in so long.
