I really hope one day these kinds of battery backup and solar system setups become significantly more affordable. Right now, it is just too expensive to justify the upfront cost of a brand‑new system. And in my particular case, I can't even get enough solar on our roof to cover our consumption, not to mention the fact that we would need to have our roof upgraded as well as our electrical box to even be able to support the installation of solar panels and the backup battery. Overall, it would likely be in the realm of tens of thousands of dollars on top of the cost of the equipment itself.
