This honestly says a lot about how far they think they can push AI4 still. Or they don't mind stalling for time for regular consumers while they secretly equip their Cybercabs with AI5 in the background. My guess is that there is a manufacturing bottleneck, and this is the main reason they are saying we won't see AI5 in vehicles first. But if they are just generalizing to "cars," it could just mean privately owned/purchased customer vehicles, and instead there could be a strong chance that they might equip any Robotaxi fleet Model Y's and Cybercabs with AI5.

I was thinking the same thing about the CC, only that it has AI4 with camera washers. I don’t think AI5 exists in a meaningful way for them to be building dozens of CCs with it. If that makes sense.

My thought process is that they "can't" or "don't" want to put it into customer cars because of the large volume that they would need. However, being that Cybercab still has a limited production (at least for now), they can probably manage to have a few hundred or thousand of those with AI5.

AI 4 is already just starting to max out, which is why 2026/27 models have AI 4.5 computers being installed -for all the new exciting new stuff coming and to handle USFD-sitting in yr back seat, banish, summon, unreal engine, new shapes/images, grok coming out of beta mode.
