Just watched Out of Spec's efficiency tests for the R2 performance vs. the Model Y performance, and the results are honestly concerning. Especially when you consider that the R2 isn't just a road car like the Model Y performance, and ideal conditions aren't the norm. If I were considering buying one or had a reservation for one, I'd definitely be having doubts about pulling the trigger on any R2.

I don't think I'm super surprised at the numbers the R2 is posting. Having test driven one a coupe of weeks ago I can confirm that it is a great vehicle, for a certain use case, but it is an aerodynamic brick. I don't think that I would really consider an R2 (or any Rivian) as a cross country vehicle. Sure, it can go long distances but it's not really build/designed for that. My understanding is that Rivians are "adventure" vehicles that are more suited to low speed activities; rock crawling, camping, hauling, etc.

That said, it is absolutely disingenuous of Rivian to post numbers like 300+ miles of range and compare themselves to a Tesla. Maybe if they had said that those 300+ miles were all non-highway numbers then maybe I could believe them.
