Yeah, if they raise the price of FSD, I will without a doubt be unsubscribing. Shame really, I liked it a lot, but it simply isn't worth the thousands it will cost through my several years of ownership. I may even trade-in early because the whole reason I bought a Tesla was because of the autonomy and other cools features. But other automakers have caught up in terms of features, and I am certain in a year or two there will be others with similar autonomous capabilities or at least on highways. I'm looking at Rivian's upcoming models, and they are looking pretty dang good, and Volvo's recent offerings also seem great.

"Sustainable abundance" doesn't really hold up if everything is a subscription, and owning things long term is more expensive than buying them outright. Likewise, if they were to raise the price of FSD to the $300 mentioned in the article (just as an example), that would mean that 1 year now costs $3,600 and 5 years is now $18,000. Let that sink in. If you subscribe, you could have bought 2 cars for the price of one, and a subscription for it to be autonomous.

I'm on the fence here. If I could be sure purchasing FSD outright would tie me into whatever future capabilities FSD might have, I would go for it. However, if the 8 grand will only be for lifetime of the car for Supervised and will not include Unsupervised when available, without additional cost, I don't think I will make the investment. The point of purchase says "Full Self-Driving (Supervised) - $8,000.00". Doesn't seem to be much leeway in that naming. Musk says FSD Subscription price will rise - but what about purchased?

Unsubscribing should be coordinated to send the appropriate message. If everyone should be using it then it should be priced as if that is the case. Doubling or tripling the price isn't going to help with market penetration. If you have unsupervised FSD and are using it to make money then getting a cut may make sense but it should be somehow proportionate to the income generated. I thought they had that covered with the robotaxi app/ecosystem. I wouldn't be sending my car off on its own very often - maybe to drop off or pick up from the airport. Paying $10/day to be able to nap for the typical hour or so that I use it makes no sense. I'm rooting for Rivian, Mercedes, BYD etc to help make the automation a commodity.

Dude-pay the $199 price for a month or don’t. U can get the crappy version at $99/m but it won’t be unsupervised.

I already said-other car manufacturers will all have a version of self driving: some better than Tesla most worse but their versions will be cheaper and competition will…….wait for it…..BRING TESLA to lower price or offer incentives.

If sitting in back seat is something u want-it ain’t gonna be cheap.

U can pay the $8000 U.S. and buy FSD if u own a HW4 car and save some cash……cause I predict UFSD will have a lot more features coming and the price will rise way more than $ 200/m……more like $300-$400 or more per month.

Now i'm kinda glad that the lifetime FSD Package was already on the car when i bought it second hand - it is possibly the best hope i have that tesla will someday do something about HW3 in terms of upgrading

MEH-I doubt U will get the true UFSD with Hw3.........for all the features it will require the last chip HW5.

With upgrading i meant getting necessary Hardware upgrades to be able to run latest FSD builds or maybe even UFSD - who knows. But they have to do something for the promises they were giving when selling hw3 vehicles

Thats gonna be too expensive, too many parts, too many cars. FSD LITE will not be UFSD with HW5--not even close.

Hw5 will be the last chip for true UFSD with all the extra features offered (ONLY HW5 cars) at a high subscription price.

The fsd lite version will be like basic autopilot in comparison.

They knew that YEARS AGO---regardless of all the promises they continue to say. Best case scenario---cheapest way-continue to wait another year, cross fingers and hope. 2-buy a 2026/2027now and purchase FSD now.

The only other offer-pay the higher fees FOR LIFE ,arriving this year.

I have a different view on this. I definetly won't buy another car for at least 5 years from now on, so i will just try to get the best out of the current car thats possible. It has the FSD Package with a promise on it, so i will join a class action lawsuit by HW3 owners if there ever will be one. If not and they do nothing about HW3, well, then i am not too sad about it because it still is/was a great car to drive nonetheless. But it will certainly affect my decision for what car i will buy next, but thats years ahead, so we will see.

For now i will just watch if or when Tesla will finish UFSD and when thats done, the specific hardware requirements will be more clear. Meanwhile i enjoy driving 493 electric HP manually
