That's what Dillon Loomis reported seeing in videos. I don't think a chase car is any better or worse than someone in the passenger seat with a kill switch. It's early, maybe more reports will come in with no one there. Then the argument against Tesla will be - REMOTE MONITORING! Still supervised!
The article just posted by NATA, along with the video they linked shows that there is actually a chase car. I guess it is just an added precaution, and maybe they are trying to build more unsupervised miles for added confidence, or in the case the car gets stuck. I would imagine that the chase car doesn't really have any remote control over the other car, but who knows.
They need to include the AUTOMATION LEVELS: level 4 is high but still relies on some human intervention. It's LEVEL 5 thats total/full/UFSD (no steering wheel/pedals).
So that video is LEVEL 4.........achieving level 5 is still a ways off before it gets deployed in everyone's car.
