If they’re going to be doing this, the other thing I hope they address (especially if it isn’t going to be backwards compatible) is the camera occlusion issue. Add some way for all the cameras to clean themselves when necessary. Maybe even add more cameras to cover more angles, or even zoom levels for different distances.

Keep in mind, unless they plan to only do this update during the AI5 update then I don’t think that AI4 will be able to handle the added resolution. That said, I also believe that most of the issues with the cameras becoming occluded stem from the front, and rear cameras. I personally don’t ever really run into issues with the side cameras, but I also don’t live in an area where it snows, so it might be more of a problem there. Overall, we just need a better solution for camera cleaning. I don’t know how they are going to accomplish that, but it certainly needs to be better than it currently is. Especially since that seems to be one of the biggest limiting factors for FSD in general.

Do what we in North America have always done-car wash and a clean cloth-wipe it ourselves. The salt sprays up from the roads caking our cameras in the winter time. On our cars-u can literally rub your hand on any part of the car and have a fist full of salt grime-car wash places make huge bucks. They are the only ones who loves snow.
