Meanwhile, while the world is getting V4 charger, one site- 1441 Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY- will celebrate TWO YEARS of being under construction on Sunday.

Yes, on December 1, 2022 work began on a 12 stall Tesla Supercharger, with two EVgo chargers as well. The installation of the chargers and Tesla transformers was done by around April, 2023. Then the site just sat...for months, then over a year. In August, Con Ed finally installed their transformers to hook the station up to the electric supply. I happen to be there that day and was told the station would be up and running the following month.

And chickens have lips.

The electric meters were installed sometime this month, but still no power.

Two of the three light posts were put up...then another three arrived because someone forgot to order three the first time. That third one is still waiting to be installed.

In any event, this clustef*ck of a site is just waiting for someone to tell Con Ed to turn on the power and for any testing to be done.

Everyone on Staten Island should get six months (at least) of free charging from this place because for the past two years, many of us have to travel 20 minutes to charge our cars.

It boggles my mind that Tesla can be building charging stations at an insane clip, retro fitting older ones with newer units, and this one just sits, unused, unopened for TWO EFFING YEARS!!!

Maybe Tesla's CEO should do something about this... if he can find time while he tries to eliminate half the Federal government.

20 minutes? I assume charging at home isn’t or hasn’t been an option for 2 years. Do you travel a lot, or do you just charge there because you don’t want to get a home charging solution?
Yes... exactly. I live in a townhouse with no driveway. There is no place for me to plug my car in. If the situation was different, a charger would've been installed when I got the car.

The only working supercharger on Staten Island is at the very southern tip of the island, by the Outerbridge Crossing. It takes close to 20 minutes to get there. My other option is the station at the Jersey Gardens Outlet Center in Elizabeth, NJ. A slightly faster trip, but a bridge and NJ Turnpike toll makes it more expensive. When I got my Model Y in June 2023, the expectation was that the charging station mention would've been up and running by the end of July that year. We're now 18 months past that time.

As a comparison, my wife and I drove to Montreal this summer. I stopped at the North Hudson supercharger in upstate NY. That one was started in November 2023 and was open by mid-March 2024: not even five months from start to finish.. in the effing middle of an Adirondack winter!!!!

Everyone involved with the construction of "new" Staten Island site should be fired: from Tesla, to the construction people. the electricians, Con Ed. Everyone. They couldn't find their way out of a paper bag with a flashlight and guide.

If I sound angry... I am. So are quite a number of other Tesla owners around here. We've all been trying to find out anything for literally two years now.

That is so frustrating! I definitely feel like that’s something that the ones of us who charge at home have gotten used to. There was a supercharger next to a highway about 3 miles from me. They had a station up in 2 weeks using the prefab install method with 20 stations. I just assumed this was the same for all of them. I can’t imagine how annoying this must be for you. Is there a number that you guys can call to get information or check up on the progress? I quotient mind giving them a few calls just to bother them🤣.
