I don't understand why they can't have the older vehicles also sound the alert when the phone is left behind, using just the Bluetooth connection, rather than only relying on the charging pad. This seems like a massive shortcoming in my opinion. Like, sure, it won't be able to tell exact location in the vehicle and all the fancy stuff that UWB can do, but it can certainly at least chime.

Ditto to what Procal said. In my experience storing my phone in that 5th pocket of my costco pants (the pocket that is on your right thigh) the lower cars will slip things like phones and keys out. I’ve had it on my new S, all model 3s, not so much on the Y.
