I'm on HW3 and generally satisfied, but I hope more can be done. I'd be more pissed to be on HW4 and already hearing it is pushing its limits.

I'm probably not in the market for a new vehicle for another 2-3 years, but I'm interested in the future of non-Tesla EVs. My gut says there is a more reliable path coming from the big automakers. If Tesla remains as random as it is now, with a crazy man twitting stupidity about America and his company/features/features that never show up, I'll be moving on.

Same. I will keep my current HW3 M3 LR even longer probably. Because for the European Union theres not even FSD Beta in sight yet, so maybe AI5 is a thing when FSD gets released here, so it would be stupid to go for HW4 now, hearing its already pushing the limits :D

This makes me question if FSD Beta (Supervised) will ever be released for HW3 in Europe. Or if we also get the HW4 replacement computer.

This is exactly what my concerns have been for a while now. It always seemed to me that the aspirations for HW4 were very big. I am honestly quite upset about it, seeing as I only just last year (2024) bought a brand-new Model 3 LR. Now, hearing that HW4 limits are already being pushed, and I am only a year into ownership, does not give me hope or confidence for the future of FSD on my vehicle. What makes it even worse in my opinion is that I am not willing to purchase FSD outright for exactly this reason, but it seems that is the only way that a future (possible) hardware upgrade is possible. My question to Tesla would be, why are we constantly fighting this battle of ever-increasing hardware needs and underpowered hardware that only last a few years at best? Would it not be better to WAY over build the hardware required or optimize the FSD models and then size the hardware appropriately? At the very least, they should not overpromise and under deliver on the hardware capabilities. I would definitely not want to be a Tesla investor right now, and if things continue this way, I may be looking to other brands as well when it comes time to swap out my car.

I happen to purchase my MYLR in April 2023. Just before they came out with HW4. So, my HW3 FSD won’t ever meet the potential that even the HW4 cars will meet, let alone the future need for HW5. I have had the car for 2 years now, so by the time it gets retrofitted (Elon Jan, 25) it may be 3 to 4 years old. It has already depreciated 50% from purchase, what will it be worth in 2 more years when Tesla might get around to the problem of us Legacy FSD owners? I have a suggestion that could help Tesla and the current owners who are loyal to Tesla and are planning on upgrading their cars in the next couple of years. Make them an offer they can’t refuse to get them out of their legacy HW3 cars. It will cost Tesla most of $15,000 to retrofit these cars. And what about the FSD that they paid at least $8000 for? Let them purchase a new car (any model) with a discount that works for both parties, such as $12,000 plus let them transfer the FSD to the new car. Give them top dollar for trade in. Maybe throw in another benefit like a couple of years of Supercharging. Make it a program for the next two years, and see how many of those legacy cars can be recovered. This is a win-win for all involved. It creates loyalty, moves new cars into the population and tells the public that Tesla cares about their owners. I’d actually like to have a new Model S, probably after the rumored refresh this fall. It could come with the HW5 and solves another future problem.
