There goes a car that can’t be replaced. RIP big blue.
WTF happened that the back 1/3 of the car was ripped off in a 35MPH zone?? Glad no one was hurt.

Yeah, I'm going to need WAY more information on this. There is zero chance that either car was doing the 35 MPH posted speed limit or anywhere near it. It's either that or the Model X was one of those cars that were previously in a collision, and they essentially repaired it by welding parts together poorly, leaving the entire structure weakened. The amount of force that would be required to split a car in half like that is insane.

Glad everyone is okay though and that it didn't catch fire and that the doors worked fine. At least those are two additional things they can't point to and use as a headline.

FWIW- I remember seeing one other X have this exact thing happen but it was T-Bone style by a high speed vehicle.

Also- Frost Blue Metallic. I think all the US light blue cars are Frost Blue Metallic. At least that’s The official color of my ‘26 S which looks to be the same vintage as the X.

It could be that the structure is particularly weak at that point, but still, the only time I've seen a car get ripped apart that cleanly is usually because of a high-speed collision or a really bad (and almost certainly illegal) previous repair job.

The repair job I'm speaking about is called a "cut-and-shut" where they basically take two parts of a car and weld them together. But then again, there is now this news article that has some additional pictures: https://katu.com/news/local/tesla-e...lac-escalade-suv-safety-driver-responsibility

From those pictures, it really does look like that part of the car is particularly weak. Then again, the car that hit it appears to be a Cadillac Escalade IQ, which is also an extremely heavy vehicle (near 9,000 lbs last I checked), so maybe that alone was enough to rip the car apart.
