This is the natural progression, Uber disrupts ‘big’ Taxi, and now they are the ‘big’ biz getting disrupted and will fight tooth and nail to keep their duopoly with Lyft. Add Unions looking to protect their workers (which is why they exist so don’t poo poo them) and you have some headwinds. Which is kinda funny because I’m pretty sure Unions were already fighting against Uber…

Well said. I find it so hypocritical, but at the same time, it isn't like back when Uber and Lyft were getting big; there wasn't backlash as well, especially from yellow cab drivers. What really bothers me most about this is the way they're going about it and the claims they are using to fight the technology.

They will limit the amount of taxis within certain areas with exceptions on certain days (new years eve, major events)
