Beside the obvious analogy, I would refrain from comparing Tesla's video identification to Face ID, because of one fundamental difference: Face ID is a tool for the user, that they can use if they wish to. On the other hand, Tesla's video identification uses biometry in a defensive way to make sure the user doesn't do anything Tesla doesn't want.

Good point. I’d be happy to see this used as an extra security measure like- if the car doesn’t recognize me then force the driver to use a PIN to drive. That way if someone gets my phone, card or watch and figures out which car is mine they still can’t drive away with it .

I'm honestly kind of concerned about this having the same issue as the early Samsung phones that tried to do "Face ID," where they could easily be fooled with a picture or some sort of mannequin head with a picture. Hopefully if they do plan to implement this, they manage to avoid all the security flaws using AI or something.
